Dallaglio Rugbyworks 2021 Champions Update

As the end of 2021 approaches, we would like to highlight the success of our Dallaglio RugbyWorks Champions, who won at our awards back in June. As well as receiving the title of “RugbyWorks Champion”, they also received some great prizes from very generous donors who we would like to thank for their contribution.

The Dallaglio RugbyWorks Awards took place online in June presented by Lawrence Dallaglio and our now CEO, Zenna Hopson. The awards ceremony is a great opportunity for us to invite all the schools we work at to come together and celebrate the effort that the staff and young people put into our programme throughout the academic year.

The Dallaglio RugbyWorks Champion Award is given to young people that show great attitude, effort and engagement with our program. In 202,1 the Champions Award was given to 5 individuals from across the country; Ryan Davies, Demi Virgo , Liam, Ben Lakin and Tod Vanchev.

As part of this prize, they won a trophy to commemorate their award, an Alcatel tablet donated by WinterComms, and a Junior ISA (JISA) set up by St James’ Place Wealth Management with £100 in it donated to each young person by Dallaglio RugbyWorks. A Cogent Financial Partnership Associate Partner of St. James’s Place Wealth Management has also offered our young people financial literacy training and updates on how their JISA is progressing before they can access it at age 18. Improving young people’s financial literacy is extremely beneficial as it empowers them and provides them with the knowledge to make informed decisions with their money.

“It has been great to speak with the individuals who have won the award, talking to them about the purpose of the Junior ISA and how it can support them in the future. Financial education is very important, something that I do not believe is covered in schools so I look forward to providing sessions in the future that covers suitable topics. Having met Ryan and his parents at the Golf day, it was amazing to hear the impact the Dallaglio RugbyWorks has on its young people and how it can help shape their future.” Matthew Rogers (Cogent Financial Partnership Associate Partner of St. James’s Place Wealth Management)

At Dallaglio RugbyWorks we like to keep a watchful eye on our alumni and celebrate their successes. Here is an update on three of our winners from this year:

Ryan Davies

This academic year Ryan has left the PRU in the Welsh Valleys and was awarded a golf scholarship to Hartpury College to study. Ryan recently attended our Dallglio RugbyWorks golf day at Richmond Golf Club where he joined our founder Lawrence Dallaglio’s team. Ryan won the longest drive of the day with a shot of 286 yards.

Tod Vanchev

Since winning the RugbyWorks Champion award, Tod has left school and is now following his passion of working with animals by enrolling in an animal studies course at college. We are told by his previous school that Tod has settled into college life and is focusing hard on his studies.

Demi Virgo

Demi is still engaged in our Dallaglio RugbyWorks programme continuing to develop key life skills with our team. Demi took part in the Wales Dallaglio RugbyWorks Autumn Touch Tournament this month and showed great teamwork and communication skills, winning MVP of her team.

We’d like to thank WinterComms and St James’ Place Wealth Management for their generous donations and want to say another huge congratulations to our RugbyWorks Champions!
