Dallaglio, was nominated through England Rugby’s Try for Change programme for his hand’s on approach to inspire young people and improve lives through rugby.
Introducing Lawrence to the stage at the Awards ceremony was third year RugbyWorks student Guilherrme Scodeler.
On receipt of the Arthur Bell Trophy, Dallaglio said: “It is very special to receive the Arthur Bell Trophy which represents exactly what sport is all about. We are very proud of the impact that RugbyWorks is having on the young people we work with and feel passionate about how the power of sport is central to developing valuable skills that will ensure a positive future. Hearing some of the stories from other community sport and recreation organisations recognised today, has been truly inspiring. I am very lucky to have experienced the benefits of sport first-hand and it is great to see sport coming together to make an impact of people’s lives across the country.”
Andrew Moss, Chair of the Sport and Recreation Alliance said: “We are delighted to recognise Lawrence, and his achievement in really making a difference to young people in the community through the RugbyWorks programme. We are all aware of the shift in focus by the Government to highlight the wider social value of sport and recreation and through this innovative and unique programme, sport is already having this impact. Sport has the potential to improve people's physical, mental and social wellbeing and there are many great examples of this happening. One of our roles at the Alliance is to champion great practice that is out there and the awarding of the Arthur Bell Trophy is one of the ways we shine a spotlight - this year on Lawrence."
