A Local Derby
On the 4th February, a friendly rugby game was arranged between two schools in Newcastle to showcase the skills they have been working on over the past few months. Hopefully this will be the first of many to come, due to the fantastic behaviour and attitude from all that attended.
We started the day with a fun warm up to get both schools interacting in a positive way, this helped break down barriers between all of the young people and shifted away the worries from two schools meeting for the first time in a competitive setting.
Both sets of young people often referred to as ‘challenging’ and ‘disruptive’ however they gave a fantastic impression. It was brilliant back and forward game with them showing great determination, passion and sportsmanship to each other throughout.
Following the day, both teachers and pupils have expressed their delight at being involved with such a great opportunity and stated how much fun they had.
Tony Smith, a Moorbridge Teacher said, "The first game of the academic year took place today with Trinity travelling to Moorbridge for a 6 v 6 game. Both teams began the game well with high intensity and a very respectful attitude. The game was close from start to finish with some excellent play from both teams resulting in the deadlock being broken by Trinity. The game went back and forth with Moorbridge getting back into it but at the final whistle trinity took it 16 -11. A great game all round with both teams a credit to themselves and their respective schools."
"I'd like to thank the team for hosting a fantastic afternoon at Moorbridge this afternoon. The learners really enjoyed mixing with your boys and had great fun. I was very impressed with the attitude and effort of all of your players." commented Steve Langley from Trinity School
