Dallaglio RugbyWorks is an intensive, long-term skills development programme based on rugby, through which we aim to get teenagers outside of mainstream education into sustained education, employment or training.

With Christmas closing in on us, it was time for the first Dallaglio Foundation RugbyWorks Tournament of the school year.

Throughout the first term of the year our RugbyWorks coaches have been working within Pupil Referral Units (PRU’s) delivering sessions designed improve the confidence and develop the life skills to build their path to a future in employment. The Tournament is positioned both as a reward and a platform to put all they have learned into practice, particuarly the elements of communcation, teamwork, leadership and respect.  9 PRU's from across London came to Old Actonians Sports Club in West London for the day's action.

On arrival, each of the school's staff and pupils were welcomed by Lawrence Dallaglio and with the 2003 World Cup winner watching on the pupils were eager to impress.   The morning's rugby provided a thrilling array of skills and teamwork.  It was evident that the pupil's confidence had developed throughout the day as the skills on show got better and better. The winner had to be decided by three-way conversion competition with The Limes College coming out on top. They showed great resilience and team spirit which sets a great example how we harness the values of the game within RugbyWorks.

An exciting addition to this term's tournament was a tyre changing challenge, developed and run by Halfords.  Halfords built the four-tyre rig specifically for the event and challenged everyone to see who could change a tyre in the quickest time. With prizes up for grabs and a healthy element of competition, it proved a popular aspect of the day.

Prize giving commended the The Limes as the winners, the player of the tournament and our Halfords autocentre challenge winner.  Supported by Lawrence, Dallaglio Foundation Trustees, corporate partner volunteers, Dallaglio Foundation supporters and officers from the Metropolitan Police, the teams were proud to show off their achievements.

We'd like to thank everyone who was involved in the day it would not have been possible without your help! This includes every school that took part, volunteers, Halfords, Square Pie and Old Actonians Sports Club.

We look forward to seeing you all at the next Dallaglio Foundation RugbyWorks Tournament.
