Dallaglio RugbyWorks is an intensive, long-term skills development programme based on rugby, through which we aim to get teenagers outside of mainstream education into sustained education, employment or training.
The Pie World Cup
The Dallaglio Foundation are delighted to announce their two year partnership with Square Pie, the gourmet pie business established in 2001 in Spitalfields Market.
Square Pie have supported us at previous events including the RugbyWorks tournament – the Street World Cup.
Founder of the Foundation, Lawrence Dallaglio, said; “We're delighted that Square Pie are joining us as an official partner. The business has shown great support for the Foundation to date and we're excited about this next chapter. What could be a more winning combination than rugby and pies!?”
Square Pie will continue to support the Dallaglio Foundation through a wide range of activities, including through staff fundraising, at our events, RugbyWorks tournaments and through providing employability opportunities for the young people we work with.
To kick off the Rugby World Cup and the official partnership, the inventive team at Square Pie have created a champion squad of 20 incredible recipes representing each country playing in the tournament. They will all fight it out following the same format as the Rugby World Cup to be crowned the winner of the Pie World Cup! England will be represented by a true classic renamed the Dallaglio Foundation Steak and Ale. 10p of every pie sold in restaurants as well as selected Tesco stores and Ocado will be donated to the Dallaglio Foundation.
Martin Dewey, the Pie-oneer behind it all explains more about his pledge to match tries with pies; “Pie and rugby, what’s not to love?! The recipes are incredible and encompass ingredients from every continent. It’s going to be hectic in the kitchen but the pies taste amazing and should get everyone living and eating Rugby World Cup fever!
We wholeheartedly support the work of the Dallaglio Foundation and the pairing was natural for us with a passion for rugby and its values ingrained within the brand.’’
